Hail to the Chief?

MoonSoldierS
I think not. I will honestly say that I am very disappointed in my country, and somewhat disgusted, too. Normally, I would be happy that the democrats won, but this is one of the rare occasions where I preferred, and even voted for republican.

Too many people are blinded by pretty words and pledges that the new leader of America has said and promised. I have a strong feeling in my gut that, because now this man is way too cocky, it won't be long before he makes his first mistake and the American people will see how wrong they were.

I wanted a president that at least knew what he was doing and who had SOME insight on the current situations, especially war-related. Who knows how to go about things and how to get things done. I didn't want some wet-behind-the-ears person who pretty much woke up one morning and said "Hmm, I think I'll run for president." He promises to do too much in too little a time slot, and people buy up his every word because, in all honesty, it was what they wanted to hear. Ever see that episode of Family Guy where Lois is running for Mayor? She won because she kept saying one thing, "Nine eleven!"...and the people of Quahog cheered because it was what they wanted to hear, it was "patriotic". The only difference in real life is the big, number one promise: bring the troops home.

I see financial ruin, people out on the streets due to lack of work and government help to those that really deserve it, and four years of plain crap. Yeah, the democrats go for "the little guy", helping the poor and such....but that only means the people who take government help for granted and take advantage of it are only going to get worse, and possibly double if not quadruple in numbers. With a republican taking stand at least it might've meant more job opportunities and less dependence on welfare and handouts. And that's another post all on its own about my ranting about welfare and handouts and government programs such as WIC and foodstamps.

Point of the matter is I'm not happy and I don't care if anyone doesn't like me for not liking the leader of America (I'm not calling him president because...well, I just don't want to), but nobody better call me racist. I'm not. By all means, let there be a leader of different ethnicity/background/color/creed/sex, but don't let the majority of the vote be because of that alone and, because of that sole belief, believe everything they say about "change". What major change can there really be in one term from someone who doesn't know what he's doing? His position is supposed to be one where he goes in and takes immediate action; we don't have time for him to take his newly appointed position out on a test ride with his training wheels still attached.

Oh...and did anyone else feel uneasy when this now leader of America said he didn't like the national anthem and, moreso, doesn't even support it enough to salute/put his hand over his heart? Yeah...*cough* It's also unnerving, for me anyway, that people were singing his praises. Was that really necessary? Singing PRAISES? He's not a god, and on the religious accept, what's the difference in praising this man and praising a golden calf statue?

*sigh*

Indeed, he's NOT a rockstar, but people keep praising him and worshiping him like he is (or like he's some god). And, true, who cares if he's black. Like I said, by all means, may there be a leader of different..well, everything..., but what gets me is he's too new. He's too inexperienced. It's like being led through a mine field by a blind person, and that can only lead to trouble.

What also gets me is it's like nothing negative can be said about him because he's of a different race/skin tone. Any criticism about him and people automatically say "You're just racist". That, especially, needs to stop. And now before another war breaks out here on US soil...and all because of ignorance with that bit of fact.

It really won't be long before he messes up. And, honestly, I'll be all too ready to be "I told you so".

I got caught up in the wave of excitement last night, but I didn't vote for him or McCain. It'll be interesting to see where this whole "hopechange" movement takes us, though. Probably not in the direction I'd like economically, but eh, we can vote again in four years.

Well, I voted for neither guy, since neither stood for anything I believe in.

I sincerely hope he surprises me, not because I want him to look good, but simply because his success directly affects our well-being.

I hope at least his VP, Joe Biden, was wrong about what he said Obama will do if elected.... because that sounds downright terrifying. Sounds to me like, if there is a crisis, he will do more to suspend our civil liberties than even Bush did! Because of course, "it's for our own good", even if it's unethical and unpopular. *eyeroll*

Things are looking pretty bad though. I'm not looking forward to being taxed out of existence or being called "selfish" because I think I'm entitled to keep what I earn fair and square. I give a LOT of money to church tithes and various charities, organizations I can be CERTAIN will give my funds to those who truly need it. Unlike the government, who just uses taxpayer money to fund the unhealthy habits of people that refuse to help themselves because doing so would lose them free benefits they don't really need. To hell with those people who waste it for those who really DO need help.

Also, forgive my rudeness, but Obama can shove his "selfish" comments right up his snobby ass. It's already an established fact proven by statistics that conservatives donate and volunteer for charities far more than liberals. You know what I think is selfish? Being generous with OTHER people's money, like Obama. >:|

Anyway, I hope Obama supporters remember one thing - they need to hold this guy accountable for his actions, because they made him president. Let's hope the mass hysteria will give way to reality, and people will reprimand him if he starts trying to take too much advantage of his newfound power.

Hey, more weird news... the dean of our college has been picked as a member of Obama's "transition team". I have no idea why though.

Check it out: http://www.brownsvilleherald.com/news/garcia_91496___article.html/obama_president.html

I heard about that on the news this morning. I know for a fact that it's a power play on his part -- bring in the "little guy" to make himself look good and make it seem that he's trying to give opportunities to those that were never even looked at twice. The dean of UTB was chosen, I believe, not because of anything interesting she said or anything that she could actually do, but because it's the one university right NEXT TO the Mexican border.

I feel it's a "I'm going to look like I give a crap about other people in a country that's attached to ours."

Yes, go ahead and support the people that try to get in here illegally and succeed nine times out of ten, and then the same government that "tries" to send them back is giving them handouts! >\ I donate plenty as well only because I'd rather my money go to organizations that will help people, that way the government won't see a penny of it. We get taxed up the wazoo enough, now with all this "change" that Obooboo talks about...where do people think he's going to get the money to fund any of it? From the Money Tree growing outside the window of the Oval Office?

In two years' time, and this is because I'm being optimistic and TRYING to give him the benefit of the doubt with this time estimation, I see the majority of America that doesn't hold a third job (if there are even enough jobs to get a second or third one), isn't a minority (because you know "my people" need it more than the "selfish" usual conservatives that have held office in the past), and who doesn't have a dozen kids to mooch off welfare out on the street kicking themselves. Of course, it might not happen, but the scary part is it's a HUGE possibility.
